Three new arrivals in Casualty this Spring

“We have three wonderful new cast members joining the Casualty medical team over the coming months,” said the BBC1 drama's executive producer, Oliver Kent. “They will be taking on very different roles and will be embarking on their own brilliantly vibrant, bold and gripping stories every Saturday night.”

The first ED arrival will happen on Saturday 12 March when new paramedic Jez Andrews joins the Casualty team. Jez will be played by Lloyd Everitt, who has previously had roles in Emmerdale and New Tricks. New Paramedic Jez will arrive with his cheeky banter and lax attitude, he fails to makes a good first impression on his new work colleague Iain. Jez will also become good friends with Max over the next few months.

Lloyd said “I feel honored to be joining such a successful show”. “It’s actually the first programme I remember watching as a child. I look forward to bring a different essence to a programme that’s synonymous with British culture and television.”

Our second arrival will come on Saturday 30 April, when we will meet Nurse David Hide, played by former Heartbeat actor Jason Durr. Nurse David Hide is described as a “shy, withdrawn and socially awkward man who goes about his work efficiently and quietly.”

Jason said “I’m delighted and thrilled to be joining this iconic BBC flagship show in its 30th year”. “I have to confess that I have a huge phobia of blood and needles so I’m hoping my time in Holby will help me overcome my lifelong fear!”

Then, in May, our third arrival comes in the form of Consultant Elle Gardner played by Jaye Griffiths. Elle will be a single mum to three chaotic teenagers, it becomes clear that Elle is a little out of practice as she struggles with the concept of ultrasound. But using her instincts she works brilliantly and wins the team over. Jaye said “I was filming in Cardiff for Doctor Who last year, so it’s great to back in Wales, starting with the Casualty team, everyone’s been extremely welcoming and the storylines are really powerful.”
