Casualty Review: Series 32, Episode 29

An explosive episode of BBC One's Casualty, last night, directed by one of Holby's own, the multi-talented Amanda Mealing. Mealing's direction always feels to me like there is heart and understanding at the centre of every scene, she certainly puts her own mark on the episodes she takes beneath her dedicated wing. Here's the episode in review:

Wedding Day

It feels like we've waited an eternity for Glen (Owain Arthur) and Robyn (Amanda Henderson) to finally tie the knot. We saw Robyn getting ready with the able help of Duffy (Cathy Shipton) who suggests a selfie to mark the occasion! Meanwhile, Charlie's (Derek Thompson) in a pickle with the whereabouts of his tie. The Fairheads have also given a wedding gift in the form of a break in Devon for the newly weds-to-be and they'll even look after Charlotte!

Health Scare

It's typical that Glen's health should fail him so horrendously on the day he's been waiting for, and he spends the morning having a scan with Dylan (Will Beck) warning that he needs to be admitted. However, Glen's not going to let a little thing like his advancing Cancer stop him from marrying his girl. He leaves hospital, and although there is a false start during the vows, Glen and Robyn are finally Mr and Mrs!

Love in an Elevator

Elle (Jaye Griffiths) is on the scrounge for the Morning After Pill after a one night encounter in a lift. Jacob (Charles Venn) is less than impressed given that he had been trying to call her for help with their son's homework. Although the situation does lead to a lightbulb moment for Jacob as he decides that he has to be there for Blake and steps down as Clinical Lead, much to Elle and Ethan's (George Rainsford) surprise.

Tragedy

Glen's condition caused him some problems during the vows, however it causes more than just a few problems when the happily married pair are on the road en route to Devon. We witness a beautiful moment when the song they decide is 'theirs' is playing on the car radio, so they are inspired to enjoy their first dance. However, when Robyn has to pull over because Glen is having a fit, tragedy strikes after a horrendous collision while the panic stricken nurse is trying to do a three point turn. We are left on a cliff-hanger....!
