John Michie joins Holby City cast

Updated: May 19, 2018

From the cobbles of Coronation Street to the wards of Holby City Hospital, the BBC announces today that John Michie will join the cast of popular BBC One medical drama Holby City.

John, who starred in crime drama Taggart and currently plays bad boy Karl Munro in Coronation Street, will play Guy Self, Holby's new consultant neurosurgeon who combines passion and unpredictability with a hint of danger. Guy’s arrival will ruffle a few feathers and definitely shake things up at Holby.

Talking about his new role, John confessed to always wanting to play a doctor. He added: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of Holby City and I’m looking forward to taking on a new challenge. My mum was a nurse and always wanted me to be a doctor not an actor so finally half her wish has come true!”

Oliver Kent, Exec Producer of Holby City, says: “We’re very excited about John joining the Holby City family. He’s a great addition to the show and viewers can look forward to seeing some explosive storylines involving John’s character.”

John will start filming with the Holby City team in the coming months and fans will see him on screen later this year.
