Holby City Review E22 S20:- Only A Word.

Slightly different opening scene this week, one which starts with music and a sparkling disco ball, with a blurry couple dancing together.

We then jump to Pulses and Fletch and Frieda, the two friends are talking about TV box sets, the conversation then turns to Roman and what happened the other night between them when Fletch told her to go after him, telling Frieda that he only has her best interests at heart by asking, in typical Frieda style she dodges the issue and picks the box set of House from his arms before heading off in the direction of the ward.

Xavier is in the staff room with Sacha, the younger man is in the fridge and complaining about the out of the date food in it and how the cleaners aren't very good and he should tell the powers that be how bad they are, Sacha challenges him that he doesn't know any of them personally, which he doesn't. Sacha is listening to French on a set of headphones to try and learn a new language, telling Xavier that he wants to prove to people and himself that he can learn something new, it sounds like he thinks and feels that he's becoming overlooked and invisible as he's getting older.

To try and cheer Dom up, Lofty suggests a Mexican night in at his place, but Dom says he's not in the mood after a bad day, Lofty tells him that he just wants them to spend time together and have a laugh like they used to, Dom tells him that since his Hep C diagnosis he doesn't feel sexy, whilst they share a departing hug after Dom says he wants a quiet night on his own, his phone falls out of his hands and lands on the stairs and shatters the screen, could his day get any worse.

Frieda tells a returning to her flat Roman that she loves him, before he introduces a woman called Joy to the doctor, Joy is found to be bleeding from her inner forearm, a wound she says she sustained from a tractor but she's not been to the hospital, does Roman know more about the incident than he's letting on and if so why hasn't he helped Joy.

Sacha doing his good deed for the day goes down to the basement and returns Patricia the cleaners radio to her after she left it in the AAU office earlier when she was up there attempting to clean, she thanks him and says that he's a kind man, he then tells her about the complaint against the cleaners in the hospital and she goes onto say that she feels bad in her job and that her job causes her pain, a big cause of this pain being that there not being enough time to clean the hospital and it makes her feel like she's no longer good at her job due to these factors.

It seems Frieda is unwilling to tolerate Roman lying to her about Joy and what he's actually doing, telling him to leave and take Joy with him, when they are both just about to leave the flat she stops them and says that she'll treat Joy's arm but after that she must go to Holby.

Whilst treating Joy's arm the woman herself collapses which forces Frieda to call through to Holby and an ambulance informing them of the current situation with Joy and that she'll need emergency treatment, Joy mutters to Frieda not to trust Roman whilst she's led on the floor, the comment catching Frieda off guard and then making her wonder what else she doesn't know about Roman which has led to Joys warning.

Back in the basement after returning to see Sacha after completing more of her cleaning in the hospital, Patricia and him dance to some French music on her radio, Sacha dressed in full blue cleaning suit and hair net, but the fun is short lived when Patricia collapses on the floor and complains of abdominal pain, it turning out after she lets Sacha take a look that she's got a hernia and it needs pushing back inside her body asap.

Roman reveals to a shocked Frieda that he works for gang masters and he recruits people to be workers, one of which is Joy and due to this recruitment its how she came to have the injury she has, as well as the internal injuries Frieda has discovered she has, injuries dished out to her by the people she works for, as she's finding this out the paramedics turn up at her flat to treat Joy.

Ric and Sacha between them manage to push Patricia's hernia back in and tell her they're going to order bloods and a CT scan, when she mentions about having to get back to work, Sacha says she must rest in the hospital and in the meantime he's going to talk to Abi about the working conditions for the cleaners, given that her over work and lack of time and cleaners have probably added to the fact she's got a hernia and caused her to be in a hospital bed.

Lofty finds Dom in the hospital when he returns with Shannon the woman he saved after she became impaled on a spiked fence after dropping her phone on the other side of it after a drunken hen night of her best friend who she is in love with but Chelsea her best friend is marrying a man, Lofty returns his newly repaired phone screen, seeing that since he's had the phone Dom has missed six calls from an unknown number, what's Dom not telling him?

After all the drama and revelations that have happened for Frieda today, her and Roman are now sat on the bench outside Holby and talking about all that's happened, her telling him that she doesn't know who he is anymore after the secrets that have come out today, she starts breaking down and getting upset, that they do have a chance if he stops running and stays here with her, hearing her plea he says nothing as he gets up from said bench and runs into the night across the car park, has he gone for good this time?

Back to the infamous roof we go with Dom initially who is then joined by Lofty, both with coffees in their hands as Dom reveals to his partner that the missed calls had been from a new programme which helps treat acute infection and could be used to treat his Hep C, this leads to Lofty declaring his love for Dom, that his Mexican night was when he was going to tell Dom he loved him but the events of the day meant that he didn't get to do it then, so he's done it now, do these new revelations mean the pair are moving in a more positive direction now they seem to have found even more common ground and feelings.

Fletch has now joined Frieda on the bench outside as the episode comes to an end, the two friends talk a bit about what happened with Roman, Fletch asking after her and if she's ok, also that Holby has helped him through some tough times regardless of what's happened, his persistence and care seems to soften Frieda and she leans her head on his shoulder, just enjoying his company and someone caring about her.

We see the disco ball from the beginning of the episode was in fact Dom and Lofty dancing together on the dance floor of Albie's, both holding one another, complete with the moustaches that Lofty had bought for the Mexican night, a version of Madness's It Must Be Love playing as they sway together to the music, laughing at each other and what they must look like and Lofty's attempt at singing a line, before they embrace once more and continue dancing. They seem happy together, but this is Holby and whilst they as a couple are happy it means that someone somewhere else is likely to be experiencing the opposite of this, bring on next week to see what happens!
