Background:

Mads's story is one of a fish out of water. She arrived here from Lahore where she worked as a nurse in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Mads is a quiet, softly spoken and very polite girl.

Her upbringing in Pakistan was quite privileged which may explain her tone, but good Pakistani girls don't become nurses so she has quietly rebelled against her family's wishes - they would've much preferred her to become a gynaecologist!
